Restoran Li Cheong is a charming Chinese eatery tucked away at 23, Jalan Kemboja 1b/2 in Bandar Bukit Beruntung, Rawang, Selangor. Its unassuming location belies the quality of its offerings, which cater to both locals and adventurous food lovers seeking authentic, home-style flavors.

The restaurant’s environment is clean and airy, creating a welcoming space with a simple yet comfortable kopitiam-style setting. The owners are known for their warm hospitality, adding a personal touch that enhances the dining experience.

The menu may be modest in variety, but the dishes are thoughtfully prepared and memorable. Among the standout specialties is the Fried Sweet Potatoes Vegetables Rice Wine Chicken with Eggs, a savory dish that balances rich, aromatic rice wine flavors with tender chicken and fresh vegetables. This dish, especially the ginger wine chicken variant, has earned rave reviews for its deep, hearty flavors and melt-in-the-mouth texture. Many diners highlight it as a must-try and a definitive example of traditional Chinese comfort food.

Another highlight is the Yong Tau Foo, handcrafted on-site with pure homemade fish paste stuffed generously in fresh vegetables and tofu. The freshness and texture impress diners who regard this item as a signature—ideal for those who appreciate authentic, carefully prepared ingredients. Complementing this is the well-loved ginger wah tan hor, which melds silky rice noodles with a flavorful ginger-infused gravy, delivering a comforting warmth on every bite.

Beyond the food, the restaurant offers delightful accompaniments like the housemade fermented lime (calamansi) drink. This refreshing beverage cuts through the richness of the main dishes, offering a perfect tangy balance that enhances the overall meal.

It strikes a balance between simplicity and quality, making it attractive for families, small groups, or anyone looking to savor nostalgic home-cooked dishes without pretense.

Owner is friendly and cheerful. Environment is clean and windy. Food selection not a lot, however sufficient. Drinks are so-so. *what's famous here apparently ginger wine chicken, however didn't manage to try it. Ordered ginger wah tan hor. Love it! Wouldn't mind coming back in future.

Restaurant Li Cheong, Bukit Beruntung — A Hidden Gem for Yong Tau Foo Lovers We discovered Restaurant Li Cheong through Google reviews and decided to give it a try — and we’re glad we did. Tucked away in Bukit Beruntung, this clean and simple eatery turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We visited on a Saturday during off-peak lunch hours, so the place wasn’t crowded. The owner greeted us warmly and was quick to recommend a few signature dishes. We ordered: - 20 pieces of Yong Tau Foo – freshly made to order, each piece generously filled with 100% homemade fish paste. The freshness and texture were excellent. - Ginger fried rice – aromatic and well-balanced, a satisfying plate that paired well with the other dishes. - Deep-fried wontons – crispy and light, great for sharing. - Spring onion ginger pork – flavourful and tender, a comforting classic done well. One unexpected highlight was their homemade pickled calamansi drink – refreshing, tangy, and just the right balance of sweet and sour. Perfect to complement the meal. Although we skipped the ginger wine chicken this round as we’re not fans of sweet rice wine, it seems to be a local favourite and we’re tempted to give it a try on our next visit. A friendly spot with honest, home-style cooking that’s definitely worth the detour. Highly recommended, especially for those who appreciate traditional Yong Tau Foo done right.
